TOUR 101 * ALASKA'S INTERIOR


Experience Alaska's major highlights, such as the Kenai Fjords National Park, Wrangell St. Elias National Park and one of the major attractions the Denali National Park with it's famous wildlife.

Day 1 * Anchorage
Arrive in Anchorage. Pick up your rental car (midsize car) and drive to your hotel in downtown Anchorage. Overnight at the Inlet Tower Suites (moderate category) or the Sheraton Hotel (deluxe category).

Day 2 * Anchorage - Seward (127 mi / 203 km)
Your journey continues along the Seward Highway south to Seward, Alaska. Upon arrival enjoy a 6 hour cruise through the Kenai Fjords National Park. Lot's of wildlife and glaciers can be seen during that incredible cruise. Your day ends with a visit of the Alaska Sealife Center, which is the only cold water marine research center in the Western Hemisphere. Day 3 * Seward
Enjoy some optional activities in Seward or visit the National Historic Iditarod Trail. Stop at Exit Glacier. A trail gets you up close. Another option in Seward would be a full day Halibut or Salmon Fishing Charter. Overnight again in Seward.

Day 4 * Seward - Valdez (305 mi / 489 km)
From Seward you travel north about 2 1/2 hours to Whittier. Once in Whittier board the Alaska Marine Highway through the Prince William Sound to Valdez. Overnight at the Aspen Hotel in downtown Valdez. (moderate category incl.deluxe continental breakfast)

Day 5 * Valdez - Glennallen (180 mi / 288 km)
Today your journey continues to Glennallen. Glennallen is the gateway to the Wrangell Mountains and the service center for the Copper River basin. Four prominent peaks of the majestic Wrangell Mountains are Mount Sanford, Drum, Wrangell and Blackburn. Overnight at the New Caribou Hotel. (moderate category).

Day 6 * Glennallen - Denali National Park (213 mi / 342 km)
Travel on the Denali Highway via Paxson to Cantwell / Denali National Park. One of the major highlights during your trip is Mt.McKinley with it's 20,320 feet. Overnight outside the Denali National Park at the Denali Bluffs Hotel (moderate category) or the Grande Denali Lodge (moderate deluxe category).

Day 7 * Denali National Park
Early morning enjoy a Wildlife Tour through the Denali National Park. The tour length is between 6-8 hours and includes a snack. Bring your camera and binoculars to view the incredible wildlife such as caribou's, moose, sheep and maybe some grizzly's along the way. You'll be back at the entrance early afternoon. Overnight again outside the Denali National Park.

Day 8 * Denali - Anchorage (237 mi / 381 km)
Drive back to Anchorage this morning. Stop in Talkeetna for an optional Mt.McKinley Flightseeing Tour. Another attraction of Alaska is the Alaska Native Heritage Center, which shares different cultures, languages and traditions of Alaska's first people. Overnight near the airport at the Best Western Barratt Inn (moderate category) or the Longhouse Alaskan Hotel (moderate category).

Day 9 * Anchorage Departure
Drop off your rental car this morning and check in for departure.

Day 5 * Fairbanks - Tok (206 mi / 330 km)
Today you drive from Fairbanks along the Richardson and Alaska Highway to Tok. Your first stop will be in Northpole to visit the house of Santa Claus. Optional lunch in Delta Junction. Upon arrival in Tok check in at your hotel. In the evening visit a Dog Sled Demonstration in downtown Tok. Overnight at the Westmark Hotel. (moderate category)

Day 6 * Tok - Dawson City (187 mi / 299 km)
