Ultima Thule Outfitters is located 100 miles up the Chitina River from
the Chitina Airport. There is no road access to our home and lodge.
This is the largest National Park in the United States, it is a wild
inhospitable land for the most part. Glaciers dominate the country and
snow is a constant companion when accessing these mountains. In the
warmest part of summer the snow begins at 8,000 ft. We are avid skiers
and ice climbers ourselves and have numerous first ascents throughout
the entire area. We have facilitated many scientific expeditions,
flown thousands of climbers into their mountains, and simply shared
this vast land with many folks who simply come to see it. This is the
driest area in these ranges, which makes access to the routes easier.
We have less weather delays being in the dry country.
We are located in the Wrangell/St. Elias National Park in eastern
Alaska. This is the largest national park in the U.S. It is wild and
untamed and rarely visited
