10 Days from / to Anchorage

Day 1
Fly into Anchorage, Alaska.
Transfer with hotel courtesy bus to your hotel.

Day 2
Enjoy a tour orientation breakfast, afterwards board a deluxe motorcoach for today's grand adventure to Valdez. Stop at Worthington Glacier.

Day 3
Continental breakfast. Cruise through the Prince William Sound to the majestic Columbia Glacier. Keep your eyes out for seals, sea lions, otters and more. Overnight in Valdez.

Day 4
Continental breakfast. Board the motorcoach for the drive north to Fairbanks. The route takes you along the TransAlaska Pipeline that runs 800 miles from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez. Overnight in Fairbanks.

Day 5
Breakfast in the morning. Afterward enjoy a sightseeing tour of the gold mining town of Fairbanks. Cruise on the Chena River aboard the grand sternwheeler - Riverboat Discovery III and return to the hotel. Overnight.

Day 6
Breakfast at the hotel. Board the motorcoach south to Denali National Park. Explore Denali on your own this afternoon, attractions like rafting, flightseeing, helicopter tours and more are available. Overnight outside the park

Day 7
Breakfast at the hotel. This afternoon, travel deep into Denali National Park on the Tundra Wildlife Tour looking for bear, moose, caribou and sheep. A snack box is included. Overnight outside the Denali National Park.

Day 8
Breakfast at the hotel. In the afternoon board the Alaska Railroad from Denali back to Anchorage. Overnight in Anchorage.

Day 9
Breakfast at the hotel. Enjoy a brief sightseeing tour of Anchorage including a visit to the new Native Heritage Center. The rest of the day is open to explore until your evening farewell dinner. Overnight in Anchorage.

Vancouver

Arrive in Vancouver today. Transfer by private motorcoach from the airport in Vancouver to your hotel in downtown. Spend the afternoon at your leisure. Overnight.
 


Day 2
Vancouver – Victoria

Start your journey today with a ferry ride to Vancouver Island. After disembarking at Nanaimo your drive will take you southward through dramatic coastal scenery to Victoria, where you will enjoy a city tour upon arrival. Participate in our excursion to Butchart Gardens.


Day 3
Victoria * Kelowna

Your B.C.Ferry departs the terminal from Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen for the 90 minute cruise through the Gulf Islands and across the Strait of Georgia. Orchard country awaits you ! Journey inland through the lush Fraser Valley and over the rugged Cascade Mountain Range to the orchards and vineyards of the Okanagan Valley. Kelowna has become the main marketing and distribution centre of the Okanagan Valley, with a flourishing tree fruit industry and a growin light industrial sector that competes on a world scale.

Day 4
Kelowna * Vernon

Today’s journey will take you through one of Western Canada’s premiere orchard and vacation destinations. As you travel along Wood Lake you may see people water skiing or fishing. Arrival in Vernon finds you in the oldest city in the interior of British Columbia.

Day 5
Vernon * Revelstoke * Banff

Travel the Transcanada Highway into the Canadian Rockies. Stop in Three Valley Gap for lunch and take a look at Canada of the 1800s. Revelstoke Dam on the Columbia River is one of North America's largest and most modern and will be visited upon arrival. View some of Canada's best loved wildernesses on your way, the Selkirk Mountains, Revelstoke National Park and Yoho National Park. Among today's sights are the Natural Bridge, Spiral Tunnels, Kicking Horse River, and Emerald Lake. Continue to overnight in Banff, high in the Canadian Rockies for your two-day-stay in this dramatically situated town, known as "the Pride of Canada".

Day 6
Banff * Lake Louise

Travel north through the heart of the Canadian Rockies and cross the Continental Divide, before arriving in the picturesque town of Lake Louise, a pristine alpine lake in the middle of the Canadian wilderness. Today you will travel along some of the loftiest highways in the world as you wend your way through the spectacular Canadian Rockies to famous Lake Louise.

Day 7
Lake Louise * Jasper

Explore the lovely surroundings of Lake Louise, perhaps take an optional gondola ride up to Mt. Whitehorn. Stop at Columbia Icefield for a magnificent view of the Athabascar Glacier and an optional snowmobile ride. Visit Athabascar Falls before continuing to Jasper today.

Day 8
Jasper

A full day to explore Jasper National Park with stop at Lake Maligne. Take a hike to see native wildlife or enjoy an optional gondola rode up to The Whistler for a view of the Canadian Rocky Mountains and the town of Jasper.
 


Day 9
Jasper * Blue River * Clearwater

Follow the Yellowhead Highway (Tete Jaune) past Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, to Blue River Ski Area in the heart of the Columbia Mountains by Wells Gray Provincial Park. Short, scenic trip through Wells Gray Provincial Park with a stop at Helmcken Falls, to Clearwater, named after the sparkling waters of the Clearwater River. Spend a relaxing afternoon hiking or strolling in the Canadian outdoors.

Day 10
Clearwater * Clinton

Continue along the lakes and streams of the Canadian timberland to 100 Mile House, originally a stop on the way to the Caribou gold fields. Pass through the Painted Chasm, a multi-colored, 10 million year-old gorge to discover Clinton. This town preserves much of its gold rush origin. Visit the Clinton Museum or Deadwood Gulch Wildlife Display on your own leisure time.

Day 11
Clinton * Whistler * Vancouver

Travel through the Camelsfoot Range to the secluded town of Whistler, Canada's premier ski resort and a favorite summer retreat. From Whistler you will travel the Sea-to-Sky Highway to fjord-like Howe Sound and the Pacific Ocean and return to Vancouver. Overnight in Vancouver.

Day 12
Vancouver - Anchorage

This morning board your flight from the airport in Vancouver to Anchorage. Arrive in Anchorage this afternoon. Meet your english speaking driver / guide and enjoy an ongoing City Tour through Anchorage prior of checking in at the hotel in downtown. Overnight.

Day 13
Anchorage – Denali

By private motorcoach travel along the Parks Highway from Anchorage to Denali. Optional stop in Talkeetna for an optional flightseeing tour to Mt.McKinley or a Jetboat Safari. Arrive in Denali this afternoon and check in at your overnight accommodations outside the Denali National Park.

Day 14
Denali – Anchorage

Enjoy a full day Denali Wildlife Tour this morning deep into the Denali National Park. Look out for moose, caribou’s, wolves, sheep and maybe a grizzly crossing your pathway. A light lunch package is included during your 6-8 hour tour. Mid afternoon transfer back to Anchorage by coach. Overnight again downtown Anchorage.

Day 1:
Arrival Anchorage

Individual journey of the participants to Anchorage. Welcome to Alaska. At the airport, you will be welcomed by your tour-guide. Transfer to the hotel. Meeting to get aquainted with your fellow travellers.

Day 2: Anchorage - Denali – American Breakfast
After breakfast we leave Alaska s largest city. Via the George Parks Highway we travel northbound towards Denali National Park. The breathtaking landscape offers constantly changing panoramic views with distant glaciers and beaver dams in the nearby river. We’ll stop in Talkeetna at the Talkeetna Lodge for some lunch and if weather permits an incredible view of Mt.McKinley. Late afternoon, there is the opportunity for a one hour glacier flight to Mount McKinley for all those who would like to go for it (optional). This is a very recommendable adventure, in particular when the weather is fine. From Talkeetna continue on to Denali. Upon arrival in Denali you’ll have the opportunity to do some goldpanning on your own. (Overnight accommodation close to the park).

Day 3:
Denali National Park – Continental Breakfast

Without a doubt this is one of the highlights of Alaska. In the morning we will go on a Denali wildlife tour. LUNCH / SNACK INCLUDED. A park owned shuttle bus takes us deep into one of the most scenic landscapes in the North America. Weather permitting you will get to see majestic Mount McKinley, 6193 meters high, the highest mountain in the U.S.A.. The variety of wildlife is very impressive, too. With a little luck you will see wolves, dall sheep, moose, caribou and grizzly bears. Admire Wonder Lake, the largest lake in the surroundings, located approximately in the middle of the park. Here in particular you will find lots of wildlife.

Day 4:
Denali National Park – Fairbanks – Continental Breakfast

Back on the George Parks Highway, we will stop in Nenana to visit the Alaska Railroad Museum. Fairbanks will be reached early in the afternoon. We will visit the University / Museum of Fairbanks and enjoy a short City Tour. The remainder of the day is reserved for the places of interest in and around this town located about 320 kilometers south of the arctic circle. Perhaps you would like to visit the Alaska Dog Mushing Museum, or treat yourself with the local delicacies in one of the numerous restaurants. You really should try the king crabs! And there is more. Particularly recommendable is a sternwheeler cruise on the Chena River, the Crown of Light show, a photosymphony covering the aurora borealis, or the Gold Rush show at the Malemute Saloon (optional).

Day 5:
Fairbanks – Beaver Creek – American Breakfast

Today we will leave Fairbanks. Our first stop will be at North Pole to visit the house of “Santa Claus”. Your next stop will be in Delta Junction, where you will tour the grounds of Rika’s Roadhouse, located just northeast of the highway and part of Big Delta State Historical Park. The complex offers a gift shop and a restaurant. Lunch included.You will also see the Trans-Alaska Pipeline crossing the Tanana River right next to the highway. Via Tok your journey continues to Beaver Creek. View wildlife during your journey such as moose or maybe a grizzly crossing the highway.

Day 6:
Tok – Beaver Creek – Haines Junction – Haines – American Breakfast

Travel by motorcoach from Beaver Creek to Haines along beautiful scenery and possible wildlife viewings. In Haines enjoy a bald eagle preserve tour, where you have a chance to see the majestic white bald eagles. ( Overnight accommodation in Haines, Alaska including dinner)

Day 7:
Haines – Skagway – Continental Breakfast

This morning board the Alaska Marine Highway from Haines to Skagway. Upon arrival enjoy a City Tour of Skagway including a visit of the Skagway Visitor Center, the Skagway museum where you will see lot’s of Alaskan historical material such as a Tlingit canoe, a Portland Cutter sleigh, kayaks and an Alaska Native Heritage collection of baskets. This afternoon enjoy a picnic at Pullen Creek Park. This attractive waterfront park has a covered picnic shelter and is located behind the White Pass & Yukon Route depot.

Day 8:
Skagway – Whitehorse – Continental Breakfast

Baord the White Pass and Yukon Railroad to Skagway this morning. With the bus transfer from Fraser to Whitehorse.There are many interesting things to discover like for example the longest wooden fishladder of the world or the Transportation Museum, which is included during the City tour in Whitehorse. Equally recommendable is a visit to the restored sternwheeler SS Klondike next to the Yukon River or a boat trip through Miles Canyon at the headwaters of the Yukon River. Day 9:
Whitehorse – Dawson City – Continental Breakfast

The journey continues via Carmacks to Dawson City. Upon arrival in Carmacks enjoy a 1.2 mile interpretive boardwalk along the Yukon river. Beautiful view of countryside and Tantalus Butte, gazebo and park at the end of the trail. At the Hotel Carmacks enjoy some lunch. have the opportunity to have some lunch. Lot’s of beautiful scenery along the way as well as wildlife can be seen. Upon arrival in Dawson City enjoy a visit of the Diamond Tooth Gerties Gambling Hall, which is included as well. Day 10:
Dawson City – Continental Breakfast

People still dig for gold in this historical town located where the Klondike flows into the Yukon River. You wil try your luck and pan for gold yourself. Afterward visit Bonanza Creek, the Jack London cabin, and the Midnight Dome, Dawson City's very own mountain, are on the agenda, as is the remarkable Gold Diggers Museum. Afterwards your guide will take you on a walk around town with it's nice buildings, some of them still original, some affectionately restored. Visit the Palace Grand Theatre - offering musical entertainment, turn-of-the-century style – this evening. (Overnight accommodation in Dawson City). Lunch included

Day 11:
Dawson City – Tok – Continental Breakfast

Prior of leaving Dawson City you’ll visit Dredge No 4, which is the largest wooden hill bucket line dredge in North America. Your journey continues from Dawson City via Chicken to Tok, Alaska. In Chicken you will visit the Pedro Dredge No 4, located at Chicken Gold Camp on Airport Road. Lunch included in Chicken, Alaska. Upon arrival in Tok visit the Mainstreet Visitor’s Center which is located at the junction of the Alaska Highway and the Tok Cutoff. Large picture windows frame the Alaska Range. Displays include rock, gems and fossils, the gold rush, Alaska wildlife and waterfowl. Overnight accommodation in Tok, Alaska.

Day 12:
Tok – Glennallen – American Breakfast

Your journey takes you to Glennallen, Alaska. Glennallen lies at the Western edge of the huge Wrangell St. Elias National Park and Preserve. It is a gateway to the Wrangell Mountains and the service center for the Copper River basin. Four prominent peaks of the majestic Wrangell Mountains are Mt.Sanford, Drum, Wrangell and Blackburn. Overnight in the Glennallen area. LATE LUNCH INCLUDED. After lunch join your guide on an interpretive Trail which offers a 1 mile walk through 3 boreal forest ecosystems:” aspen spruce forest, black spruce forest and sedge meadow.

Day 13:
Glennallen – Valdez – American Breakfast

Valdez is your next destination in Alaska. Valdez was established as a port of entry for gold seekers in 1898. Thousands of stampeders arrived in Valdez to follow the All American Route to the Eagle mining district in Alaska’s Interior. Construction of the Trans Alaska Pipeline was begun in 1974 and the 1000 acres site at Port Valdez was choosen to be the pipeline terminus. Overnight in Valdez including dinner.

Day 14:
Valdez – Whittier – Anchorage – American Breakfast

Today we travel the Prince William Sound via ferry. Without a doubt this is a highlight among the scenic beauties of Alaska. The route is close to the Pacific coast, passing calving glaciers, the Columbia Glacier probably being the most spectacular of them all. Odds are you will spot a variety of wildlife. With a little luck you will be able to take pictures not only of otters and puffins, but of sealions and even whales, too. Ashore again, the next stop is the Portage Glacier, which is almost accessible by car. Another stop will be in Girdwood where you will take the tram up to Mt.Alyeska to enjoy a snack. Concluding this eventful stage, we drive along the Turnagain Arm into Anchorage. The high tidal wave rolling into Turnagain Arm twice a day is said to be spectacular.

Day 15:
Anchorage (Departure) – Continental Breakfast

After breakfast you can choose from a variety of optional tours: you can choose between a half day bearviewing tour to Redoubt Bay or a glacier cruise, rafting etc. 6.30 PM Transfer to the Sourdough Mining Company for a Farewell Dinner. Transfer from the dinner restaurant to the airport for departure.

July 4th – Calgary – Banff
Founded in 1885 after the discovery of the Cave and Basin Hot Springs, Banff National Park is Canada's oldest and most famous national park. Each year, millions of visitors come to Banff to marvel at the emerald waters of Lake Louise, walk amongst the flower-filled heavens at Sunshine Meadows, and drive beneath the towering jagged peaks lining the Icefields Parkway. Snow-capped peaks, glistening glaciers and sweeping vistas are just one part of the allure of Banff National Park. You can enjoy all the comforts of home in the town of Banff and the village of Lake Louise, or step out into the wilderness and the home of some of North America's wildest creatures, including grizzly bears, caribou and wolves. Enjoy also a visit of Canmore, which is located only 15 minutes drive from the town of Banff.
Considered to be the residential community of the area - but secretly is the HUB of the Bow Valley Community - Canmore has an established infrastructure geared towards an outdoor lifestyle mixed with all the facilities you need to enjoy your stay The best way to get to know Canmore and the surrounding area is on foot. And with a network of walking trails through town, along the river side and into mountain valleys, you won't want to forget your camera. Some of the trails lead to picturesque Quarry Lake, follow a mountain stream through the community of Rundle, cross a beautiful old railway bridge, past stately hoodoos and into the slopes of the Benchlands. Give yourself plenty of time and wear sturdy walking shoes for a hiking tour of the area.

Banff – Day Trip to Lake Louise

Travel north through the heart of the Canadian Rockies and cross the Continental Divide, before arriving in the picturesque town of Lake Louise, a pristine alpine lake in the middle of the Canadian wilderness. Lake Louise -- Canada's "Diamond in the Wilderness," and the "Hiking Capital of Canada". This area offers a tremendous diversity of recreational and sightseeing opportunities. Lake Louise is home to one of North America's finest downhill ski areas, and has numerous hiking and walking trails. The region abounds with spectacular scenery, from glaciers to waterfalls. The highlight of the parkway is, of course, the Athabasca Glacier which comes tumbling off the Columbia Icefield directly towards the road. Nowhere else in the Rockies is it possible to get a view that encompasses more ice.

The next stop in the immediate Lake Louise vicinity is our other fabulous lake, Moraine Lake . Moraine can be extremely busy by noon, so it is important to get an early start on the day. Enjoy a hearty breakfast, then head out (say, before 9:30 am) to the shore of Moraine Lake where adventures large and small await.

July 6th
Banff – Kamloops

Enjoy a four hour transfer by private motorcoach to Kamloops this morning. From this starting point you can enjoy the incredible wilderness of the Yoho National Park, stop at the scenic Spiral Tunnel and Emerald Lake. Leaving the Rockies you drive over the Selkirks and Roger’s Pass Stopping at Glacier National Park. Arrive in Kamloops early afternoon

July 7th
Kamloops – Vancouver

Enjoy your transfer by coach along the old caribou wagon road back to Vancouver today. Enjoy the beautiful scenery in the Canadian Rockies. The region has abundant breathtaking scenery, from glaciers to waterfalls and unequalled wildlife viewing opportunities. There are many ways to enjoy vacations among the stunning scenery. Arrive into the scenic coastal city of Vancouver and enjoy a sightseeing tour of the city prior of checking in. Consider stretching your legs with a walk along the harbor front or relax in your surroundings at the Metropolitan Hotel. Enjoy an optional superb dinner in an outstanding Vancouver restaurant.

July 8th
Vancouver transfer to port

Your tour ends with a private transfery by coach to the port in Vancouver to board your cruise to Alaska.
